Frequently asked questions
Which translation directions are supported?
Dim Gong translates between Cantonese and Mandarin, and between Cantonese and English, in both directions. Select the correct direction before translating. Each input supports up to 150 characters.
Why did translation fail, or why have I reached the daily limit?
Translation needs an internet connection. Check your connection and follow the message in the app before retrying. The daily free allowance is managed by the server and resets at midnight Beijing time (UTC+8). If you have used the allowance, try again after the next reset.
Why is voice input not starting?
Check microphone and speech recognition permissions for Dim Gong in iOS Settings. After granting permission for the first time, press and hold the recording button again to start. Each recording is limited to 30 seconds. Cloud recognition requires an internet connection.
Why can I not hear pronunciation, or how can I slow it down?
Check your device volume and Bluetooth audio output, then adjust playback speed in the app. Getting new pronunciation audio requires an internet connection; previously cached audio can be played again on your device.
Where are my favorites, recent translations, and audio cache stored?
Favorites, categories, recent translations, and cached audio are stored on this device. Manage favorites or clear recent translations and the audio cache in the app. Clearing local history does not delete server records; see the Privacy Policy for data processing details. Uninstalling may remove local data, so keep a copy of important phrases.
How do I change the interface language?
Open Dim Gong settings and choose Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, or English. Use the language links at the top of this website to switch between Traditional Chinese and English.
